Lan Ha Bay

The secluded yet electic

Tucked away in the east of Cat Ba Island, Lan Ha bay is geologically the elongated tail of Ha Long bay, which makes it less crowded than the other. To all travelers who seek serenity, unspoiled wilderness and endless fun under the sun, Lan Ha bay has been considered a better alternative. It is quite easy to get from Hanoi to Lan Ha bay. First take a bus/ a train or a passenger bus to Hai Phong, then you can get on a hydrofoil to get to Cat Ba island and choose a cruise that offers tours to Lan Ha bay. In Lan Ha bay, there are many exciting activities to burn your energy and untouched areas to feast your eyes on.

Tra Bau fishing village is one of the most pristine areas to go fishing, swimming and kayaking to corners inaccessible to big boats. Van Boi secluded beach is another hidden gem with gentle waves, white sand and clear blue water where tourists can enjoy sunbathing and diving through endless coral reefs. Bright Cave is a mysterious lake encompassed in stone walls. It looks like a nature stadium attracting visitors on bamboo boats. Cai Beo floating village is also a must-see spot for its history of 70 centuries. This is the largest ancient fisherman village found in Vietnam so far where the ancient people earned a living mainly by fishing and catching scallops. Monkey Island should be an ideal stopover for swimmers who fancy watching monkeys playing on the beach. All of these leisurely activities should be covered in a two or three day tour so that tourists can enjoy it in no rush.

The weather in Lan Ha bay is most comfortable from March to June and October to November. It is less attractive in December, January and February when it can get rather cloudy and drizzly. The temperature is higher from July to September when domestic tourism hits its peak season, so book all tickets in advance and expect locals around if you happen to arrive at this time of the year.
